Empower yourself and others! A Portland Career is searching for a passionate and driven individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Career Coach. In this position, you’ll play a vital role in helping people from all backgrounds navigate their career journeys.

LOCATION:  Hybrid or remote and in our new office near OMSI, primarily Google Meet, Portland area preferred

HOURS:

After initial training, part-time (3-15 hrs a week as a complement to your other income streams or work responsibilities for the first 3 months) and then scaling up to full-time (~20 billable client hours a week). Day hours or weekends and evenings to meet your needs.

COMPENSATION:

$55 per billable client hour 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

4 weeks paid training @ $25/hr:

  • Career exploration training (in-depth interviewing, personality, strengths, skills, interests assessment, decision tools, and informational interviewing) 
  • Job search training (navigating job boards, LinkedIn, networking, interviewing, negotiating) 
  • Observe our appointments with clients in-person and via Google Meet

QUALIFYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE 

Required:

  • Excellent listener
  • Positivity, and a future oriented perspective
  • Curious, natural relator, with strong interviewing skills
  • Strengths in identifying unique qualities of others 
  • Great at web research / organization, job search skills
  • Desire to learn and implement our coaching structure and adapt it to your strengths
  • At ease with G-suite folder/file management, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Meet
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Strong service orientation, capable of building trusting relationships with clients and team members
  • Adept at giving positive feedback and redirection
  • Proactive communication (i.e. – creating clarity and next steps for clients after sessions)
  • Desire to be part of a top tier career services team

Preferred:

  • Expert, joyful networker, active on LinkedIn 
  • Two or more years working within a medium to large, private business
  • Background in human resources, outplacement, hiring, and/or recruiting
  • Degree in business, marketing or and/or psychology; Masters degree
  • Experience working within nonprofit operations either as a volunteer or paid staff. 
  • Familiarity with job search skills and coaching (including job titles / keywords, interviewing, networking strategy, negotiations)
  • Depth of insights into trends across multiple industries and organizations, and interest in learning more about others 
  • Adept at using job search boards
  • Excellent written communication
